The Seeded Planet on Pandora Radio - December 16, 2007

If you haven't been there, check out Pandora.com, the broadcast arm of the Music Genome Project. Build your own station, let it grow and change over time. Fascinating process. Tracks from the Smoking Mirror EP are being played, which is a good development. I'm building a station called 'The Seeded Planet Radio' which is sort of a cross between great rock and world ambient. Good listening. ~Erik J

'Nameless' Video - December 16, 2007

Comrades,
Well, the Crossing the Euphrates project has morphed into a video for 'Nameless.' Going to combine live performance footage with some of my 35mm Iraq images. Project to be produced by John McGall under the auspices of Hoboken Recorders. Shooting in January timeframe. Wish us luck. ~EJ

Crossing the Euphrates - November 24, 2007

Crossing the Euphrates ~ A Grunt's Photojournal, is in the making. Animated Iraq images of mine with music from The Seeded Planet and elsewhere. Watch for it soon on YouTube and bundled together with The forthcoming Seeded Planet album. Release date: (promises are dangerous, i'm still shipping EPs)........... ~E

Sans No More - November 24, 2007

I pick up nicknames as I go along. Sans described an emptiness, a nakedness. The more I create, the less it sticks. I move on. My name is Erik Jonsun. I left some letters by the side of the road. Feel lighter. Onward. New music coming. ~E

Facebook / iLike - November 4, 2007

You can find The Seeded Planet music at iLike.com, searching for the band. If you're on Facebook, find Erik Jonsun and you can grab music and tell us what you're up to. There will be many more live dates to come. Glad to see you. ~E

Music for Free Spirits - September 17, 2007

Sans broke down and allowed a MySpace page to be created where full-length songs from the Smoking Mirror EP can be heard.

The audio quality here is superior and it was forgotten that full-length clips can be heard here also. And DOWNLOADED. Gratis. (HEAR MUSIC section herein)

Fire away Comrades!

We want you to share and enjoy. And we're vastly behind schedule on EP shipments so this is a modest penance.

Enjoy! Live! Rock! Revolt! Evolve! Love . . .

Smoking Mirror shipments - September 12, 2007

Comrades,

There is not space to describe what a hurricane of change has washed through my life this summer. To all whom I've promised Smoking Mirror EPs, they are coming. Not without help. I'm not sure what the resistance is. But there are terrific forces that make me resist promoting myself. The new music is topping what we've already done by leagues. I guess I am actually comfortable with the idea of music being free, and living only in the moment.

But the art and packaging are lovely. And this will be the last music released by The Seeded Planet in CD format. So hold your copies tight. High-res downloads and vinyl going forward.

Go on. Change the medium. Music is a wave. It doesn't care whether through air, water, ether, or mind. Music is given to the creator. From the creator. From One to One. For all. Free? Why not. What was once free, becomes free again.

~Sans

Interzone - September 12, 2007

Comrades,
The Seeded Planet can now be found on MySpace at myspace.com/theseededplanet.

Full-length clips of the Smoking Mirror EP can be heard there, albeit in rough, rather fractured sound quality. Like Led Zeppelin played through a Fischer-Price Sounds of the Farm device speaker. But I suppose there is a certain Viet Nam radioman's static interference to the sound which dovetails with our culture of constant electronic noise and growing familiarity with cellular telepathy.

I don't care for the 1990s look and design of MySpace pages. And I don't find social networking to be very deep water for swimming. We just want the music out there. And this is how people are finding independent music.

The major labels, the once and distant purveyors of recorded music, are falling, one by one, like the snow walkers from The Empire Strikes Back.

New music is being made. Rock is dead. Rock is dead. For all of you who love the form, I am writing new songs to play in your head.

~Sans

Noble and Brave - July 8, 2007

Comrades,

I have become political. Young deer pass my window as I write. I have a home, a job, and a creative outlet.

I have gained love and lost it, because my soul is still in recovery from having lost my life and gained it.

Love soothes me. Losing love sharpens me into a diamond point of focus, to get it (her) back. One never forgets one's muse.

In spite of my bitterness about the gov't and war . . .

I am proud of the friends I have who are still serving.
There are no politics when an IED goes off.
There are no politics when a child is hurt.
There are no politics when a meal is shared.
There are no politics when a friend is lost.
There are no politics when you come home and your wife has left.
There are no politics when fillings have to be replaced because you're grinding your teeth from the intensity.

Boundaries and divides dissolve. Everything coalesces and becomes one. When you surrender to love. And sometimes, a man who has surrendered to love, is too much for this World. Too demanding, too volatile, too scary. Because he forgets his material surroundings. And says 'wait! this is all that matters!' But he is alone. Treading lightly in the material world. A man needs to be solid, even in love. So he can be counted on, not to go up in smoke, when he has feelings. So he can be relied upon, to keep feet on the ground, even when his heart is soaring.

Man looks up at the mountain, straps on his gear, and puffs up his chest~~knowing there will be abundant opportunity for the mountain to reduce him back down to the proper size, so he can return home, humble, gentle, human.

Woodshedding - April 9, 2007

Comrades,
The Seeded Planet are in rehearsals for first proper live shows in NYC area. We have Frank Sclafani on lead guitar, and it's like jetfuel in the wings. The songs are very different live, equally dynamic, but traversing entirely different dimensions of sound and energy. The sheer rhythmic power of the music is breaking like a wave. And there will be a cover or two thrown in, nods to the gods and masters of the form.

Ah yes, the elusive Smoking Mirror EP. Slight delays at the factory. Digipaks are nicer, and consequently a little slower to produce. They will be shipping out very soon. Sans is at work on The Seeded Planet Store, attempting to improve the offerings there. Were this the 60s Sans would be in Buffalo Springfield and we'd all be spending more time in a headshop than in Photoshop. But the world keeps moving through space, and we try to keep up. Again, I wish the gear available were less expensive......especially t-shirts. Since they are not produced in volume, I'm sure it's difficult for CafePress to offer them cheaper. Thank you for your support. We want to offer the EP for free for awhile. This helps us do that.

Music is a frequency and a wavelength. It is a word, sent on a current. The dream is that it will reach someone. And the message be decoded.

there is a song in the heart, that is kept there, beautifully, privately. love lets it out. all of us are singing inside.

1st Clip Up - February 1, 2007

Comrades,
It being the first of February, the deadline for release of The first Seeded Planet EP has passed. Set forth by management, whose edicts are so shrill they tend to make Charles Foster Kane sound soft as a cooing dove, action is called for to appease the demand for an idea of what is to be expected on the release.

To wit, we therefore are uploading a brief clip of the first track of the 3-song EP, titled Smoking Mirror. The engineers are highly displeased by this decision, as this is an MP3 of a burn of a near-final mix. Sans will be in the studio tonight to 'approve' final mixes then they will be off to the mastering house in Nashville for final gloss, sealant and bubblegum-scented TurtleWax polish. (It's laughable sometimes how Sans' ego has to be stroked by being 'involved' in the mixing and other engineering-type phases of making a record. There is even a photo floating around of his fingers on the faders of the console at Hoboken Recorders. Ridiculous.)

At any rate, in any event, to reiterate what has been set forth and iterated above, do check out this new clip. Follow the 'music' link and just click or download. It is only 49 seconds or so. This was mandated by producer/engineer Alan Camlet (The Very Reverend Ace Clemmons Jr. for the religious and followers of live music in the New York City area). When the producer threatens to walk off the job, even the little Machiavellis in management tend to budge and give way.

So enjoy. The track is called 'Nameless.' Clips for tracks 2 and 3 to come. EP ships February 2007. Please check in at info@theseededplanet.com or sansoftheseededplanet@gmail.com to make sure we have your mailing address.

We think we are the best new Rock band on the planet. The gravity of reality and taste may weigh on our altitude for now. But better to talk of the summit and make it to Camp 3, than to stay at home and watch TV.

~Improvements to The Seeded Planet Store, photo uploads, more clips, and reports from the Mexico trip all to come soon.~

it's only rock music. it can't change the world. unless you believe. unless You are ready to change . . .

tracking complete, 1st EP - December 18, 2006

comrades,
tracking is 99% complete on The Seeded Planet EP, titled, Smoking Mirror.

early on, after a furious start, the project encountered stiff headwinds on its way to the undiscovered country. with a change of studio and production crew, the noble galleon The Seeded Planet (el planeta sembrado?) has righted her course by the stars and found tradewinds yet again prevail.

the mad captain is still mad. but the crew sail true, eyes ever on the real future of the new world. a future which is yet to be seen.

but you can hear it. in the thought-lost tones of pete thompson's guitars. and in alan camlet's veilsplitting percussion. you will hear something in this record. not unlike the sound of an alarm clock from the dreamstate. the postmodern holiday nightmare is over. the mother ship descends. you can raise up your eyes and see it. you can walk calmly into the garden. or you can panic and pull weeds for eternity.

this EP will be available January 2007. if you'd like a copy of your own, we will ship one to you. please send contact info to sans@theseededplanet.com. there is no cost for this limited-release disc. if you'd like to support us, please purchase an item of your choice from The Seeded Planet store linked from this website. we have added a small markup to each item, which will cover mailing expenses.

gracias. thank you. shukran.
